Sex Trafficking: A National Problem

The following videos were created and put together by the Human Trafficking Info Organization.

This one is a news special that reveals why Oklahoma is considered the #1 trafficking state in the US (NY and CA are the other top ones). They introduce two women who recount their experiences in being violently trafficked and kept captive for years since they were in their teens. They both escaped and now help other abused women and children.

This one is a powerful approach towards creating awareness of the 30 billion dollar industry that trafficks young girls into forced sexual labor. It’s important to be aware that sex trafficking of children as young as 8-14 is not an international problem, but one that exists in our back yards.

  1. Very nice post. It is a huge problem that you don’t hear too much about. When I was in college I wrote a thesis paper on advocasy for victims of sexual abuse. Human trafficking is a billion dollar industry in the United States but a lot of people don’t know it. It’s nice to see a blog write about the real issues in our society. Nice job. :)

    Hi Marina,

MSNBC ran a show about sex trafficking in the US. It was very eye-opening. It’s shocking that this is going on.

Have you seen the documentary called “Missrepresentation”? I just heard about it and it looks great.

I see you’ve added a few things to the site. Looks great!
